Ng Po Wan - Brushwork

Ng Po Wan was my grandfather. He was born in 1904, survived through both World Wars, lived in at least 4 different countries, was married for over 50 years and was an oil painter at a time when there weren’t very many Chinese oil painters. He painted nearly every day of his life. To this day, even though he’s been gone for many years, when I smell oil paints, I am reminded of him.

This website is dedicated to Ng Po Wan’s life, his artwork and his ideas on art. He has been called a Modern painter, a 21st century painter and even a Post-Impressionist painter. He would want to be recognized as a Chinese painter. I believe there is a lot we can learn from him.

Please come back often as we will be adding and improving the site.
