This was an artist who constantly painted and constantly evolved.  He started out as a Realist painter but by the late 1950s he was incorporating Impressionistic techniques into his paintings.  After that, his style evolved again as he tried incorporating Chinese techniques.  Finally in the 1990s, affected by the infirmities of old age, his style became looser splotches of colour and full of energy.  He never settled for mediocrity but continued to push himself.  Po Wan was a Master oil painter.  His art evolved over time to become a synthesis of Western art culture with Chinese esthetics.  One of the greatest compliments for him was when the viewer could tell a Chinese artist painted them.  His skill and passion for painting can clearly be seen in his paintings and he has created a legacy that people can still enjoy and learn from to this day.
